July 31, 2017

 HI MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been hot here but I’ve been doing well.  It’s rained a lot here.  Nothing exciting happened this week but I got both the shoes.  They came in the same package. They both fit good. I wore the church shoes to church yesterday. The Alabama ties here are 50 bucks and so I thought it would be easier for yall to get one. Yeah there’s a lot of missionaries out of our ward now. Wow, yall are already going to California. Dang that went by fast. Yeah I think we are both staying this transfer though. We are both going to be excited if we both stay.  I’m sad to hear about Sadie but she’s been going strong her whole life and I couldn't ask for a better dog than her. But when she does go she will be reunited with paws and pepper. Lol. Here’s the week.

MONDAY- So after we left the library we went home and waited for the pizza and then we went to see Doc for the rest of the night. Doc survived stage 4 cancer. She’s a miracle.

TUESDAY- Today we went over to the old train depo and helped this person Beth with moving some stuff and nailing some stuff and then she bought us pizza and it was delayed so we talked with all of the people that were there.  Beths Boyfriend Randy has gave me and Elder Morley nicknames, Morley Deacon Elder and me Deacon do little. Lol. Then we left and we went and saw a referral we got and then we went and saw some kids that liked to see the missionaries and then we went home and had dinner and then we went to try to see some people but they weren't home so we went and saw Doc and then we went home for the night.

WEDNESDAY- Today we went to the book club and this one was really funny.  They were wild today. Lol.  Then we went and changed the oil in our car and that took an hour and then we went home for lunch and we went and saw this guy Marcus and talked to him about the Book of Mormon and then we went and did comp study.  We went to this place called Union Hill and contacted some referrals up there and before we went up there it started raining really hard. Then when we came back the rain stopped. We went home for dinner and then we went and tried to see these 2 people but no luck they weren’t home.  We went tracting for an hour just knocking doors but nobody let us in so we went to Docs and she told us that Salt Lake was flooded and showed us some pics. That was it.

THURSDAY- Today was a good day we went to the food pantry for 2 hours.  Then we went home and then we went over to this place called Charlies place and had lunch, a burger and pickle fries and then we went home and weekly planned.  We went to Beths home and she fed us and had Randy take us down and fish in their pond and then we spent the rest of the time there. I have some pics from there. The hunting pics are a club they own.

FRIDAY- Today we drove out to Magnolia for district meeting and I trained on Christlike attributes, charity and love and hope. Then we went and had lunch at the Martins, they fed us mashed potatoes and chicken.  Then we went back home and went to Docs and she gave us some shirts and then we went home and talked and had dinner and then we went to try to see this guy Scott but he wasn’t home.  We went and saw the Harmony club and hung out with them the rest of the night. He talked to us about helping him tomorrow.

SATURDAY- We went over to the Harmony club and moved some cement and then moved a fridge for them and then we went to Docs and did some service for her.  We went home and showered and then we went to the Urgent care for Elder Morley and then we went to see doc and then we came home.

SUNDAY- Today we went to church in the morning and had a meeting and then we had church and then we went home and then we went to docs.  After we went and cleaned a hair salon and then we went to see the Motts to get some overalls for a fhe tonight.  We went to the Talbots for lunch and we played games with them and then we went home and changed to go to the Family home evening event that was Pioneer themed.  We went to it and dressed up like pioneers for it.  They had cowboy stew and we played games involving the ancestors. And then we went home and ended the night. They had games and food.  The table I was at was talking about cruises and so I listened and wow it sounds fun. We got a knock at our door last night at 10 and there was a lady that needed help moving so we helped her tomorrow.

MONDAY - Today we had an apartment inspection and then we went and helped a lady move and now we are here. We are having Chinese tonight at China Star. The Straights are a member couple that are going to take us.

How’s Deanna doing since Nick left?  In the picture, those are flag shorts. Lol. We found them at city trends. Yes Elder Morley has a girlfriend.  She’s on a mission in Hungry right now. She gets home when we do. Lol. I told him about me liking Makiah back home and now he’s determined to find her and set us up. Lol. Yes we still have our washer and dryer but they are going to come and take it away sometime.

Thanks mom, love you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 24, 2017

HI MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been a fun week. We had an exchange on Wednesday, that was fun. Selma is still good, nothing bad just bad drivers. We just got back from a zone activity, volleyball and capture the flag.  I see the missionaries going home and I think of what it will be like. Lol. Oh and we had interviews.

MONDAY- After we emailed we went home and then we went over to Docs and had dinner for the rest of the night. She’s the investigator who survived stage 4 cancer.

TUESDAY- Elder Morley decided to let me drive to get to know the area and so we went to the old train museum to help Beth with painting and stack some books up in the attic.  Beth gave us some money to go to lunch so went to this place called buffalo steak and had some really good food.  We left and went home, showered and got ready and went to see this investigator Sarah and talked with her. She’s been in pain. She had 2 toes cut off because of diabetes.  Then we went to see this guy Turkie and he took us on a tour of his shop.  We left and we went to see Scott but he wasn’t home so we went and saw a less active and he told us some stories about Selma. Lol. Then we went to Docs and finished out the night.

WEDNESDAY- We went and saw this guy Ricky and then we went to Docs and then we went home and got in our suits and went to the church and had interviews.  President seems to be impressed with how I’m doing.  We went on exchanges after that and I went to Branch council and then me and Elder Hanratty went with a member to the Golden Ranch bbq and had dinner there and then we went to Docs and finished out the night there.

THURSDAY- We got up and went to the food pantry and bagged stuff and then we went home and had lunch and ended the exchange.  Then we went to see Marcus a recent convert from last year and then we went to Docs and there was a guy that helped us fix her car.  We left and went and tried to see some people but no luck so we went to see a less active and then we ended the night back at Docs.

FRIDAY- Today we went back over to Docs and helped with her car and then we went and showered and went to d meeting.  Most of it was about leadership and I gave a white handbook training and then we went to the Martins in Magnolia and then we went home and we tracted for awhile.  Then after 9 doors we got into someone’s home who we knew. Lol!  We left and went to the Harmony club to talk and then we went home.

SATURDAY- Today we went to the Harmony club and helped with weeds by the river and then we went and dug up some grass for the curb.  Then we went to see Doc and help her paint the house and then we went home and got dressed and went back to Docs and had burritos and then we talked and I played with her dogs then we left.

SUNDAY- Today was a slower day.  It was Elder Morleys bday and so we went to church and Sister Robinson came and she about gave me a hug but realized I was still a missionary, lol. Then after church she took a picture and then said when we come through here we will take yall out to lunch or dinner. So then we left the church and went over to Docs and then we went to see some less actives including the Busters and then we went home for the night because both of us were exhausted.

MONDAY- We went to Montgomery and had a volleyball game and played capture the flag then we went to five guys.  I bought Elder Morley his lunch today for his bday.  And then we came back and now we are here. Tonight we are going to go see Doc and some others.

To answer the question, why should a young man serve a mission?  It’s the best thing that will ever happen in their life. It’s all worth it.  You will find who you are meant to be out here and you will have fun with other missionaries. You will find lifelong friends and some that you just don’t like lol. But all and all you will not regret it. It’s the truth about the mission.  I was scared at first but I managed to get over it and enjoy the time here and make my own fun.

It’s time for Chaz’s and the Stanley sister’s farewells already?! Man that came fast. Let them know just to be themselves and make your own fun.

Well mom, gotta go.  I love yall and never forget that. Have a great week!!!!!!!!

July 17, 2017

Hi MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My week has been fun and hard.  Hard because it’s hard to find some people sometimes. I loved the pics and video from Bear River. It did not make me sad at all.  I’m glad to see the family still having fun. Ashlyn’s cheer pics look awesome. That’s funny that the kids didn’t ride through the river. I’m not going to do the daily thing, I just don’t feel like typing lol. I’m going to tell you some of our experiences this past week.

We did an exchange last week and I learned a lot from the guy I was with.  I love exchanges because you can learn from different missionaries. We did service for this one lady and it involved moving an old 1900 bank stang. It was hard but we went to lunch after so it was a great thing. One day we decided to stop at a little store and just look around.  This guy looked at us and said Yall missionaries!!!!!! He said he met with missionaries back in New York.  He wanted a Book of Mormon and a Bible and he said he would call us. We didn’t expect that at all but we were there at the right moment I guess.  I mowed half of a lawn because the mower broke after. And the week involved a lot of reading the Book of Mormon with people. We had dinner at the branch president’s home yesterday. And yeah that was about it.

Tonight we are going to Docs to help her with her yard.  We are having an exchange on Wednesday through Thursday with the Camden Elders. They come here since Elder Morley is the district leader. But that’s really the only big things that are happening this week. This morning we went fishing. We caught nothing.

Selma is my favorite area so far.  Because I’m having the most fun here and I love doing service the most and Elder Morley and I make things work easy. Lol!  We do a lot of service here. That’s mainly the only thing we can do here because people don’t want to change. Not really a lot of kids here, it’s just people that.......... basically screw up their lives.  We eat at members’ homes once a week. Sometimes we at Docs and sometimes we just eat at home.

For church we have Sacrament and the normal classes.  We only taught primary once and I gave a talk in sacrament meeting and Elder Morley taught Sunday School once. It is crazy how small the branch and church building is but I like the small church. You don’t have to memorize that many names. Lol. I thought it was sad too when I first saw that there was only one primary kid.  I can’t imagine not having anyone in your class.

I owe Elder Morley a lunch for his bday. It’s on the 23rd but we will go on the 22nd to celebrate. He’s turning 20. President and Sister Sainsbury live in the same stake as Elder Morley and they live down the street from each other.

Did you get the pics from the Methodist couple? We were walking and she was like yall want to take some pics of yall in a real southern home? So of course we said yes. She met missionaries before so we went over there. We met her the first week I was here. Missionaries used to live across the street from them so they were like mom and dad for them. Lol.

I’ve had a lot of dreams about me being home and talking with yall. I’ve had dreams that I just cannot explain. That’s another thing the mission is doing to me is giving me a lot of dreams.
I love my mission so far.  It’s turning me into who I’m meant to be.

LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!!!!!  Miss you like crazy too!!!

July 10, 2017

Hey mom!!!!

First of all I’m a year out!!!!!!!!!!! Wow boy!!!! I LOVED THE HUMP DAY SHIRTS! Everyone looks older. That’s not cool. Lol!  Our week was awesome. I’m loving it here!!!!! The weather is always hot.  We do service a lot and it gets so muggy.
Yes I’m staying safe. The 4th was cool, we spent the whole day at a members home. Hump day was awesome.  I have a picture of it.

Here’s the week.

MONDAY- We went and played bocci and then we went to a lake with a member and then we came back and had a bbq. That was it.

TUESDAY- Today was a cool day.  We went over to help the Harmony club (these two people) with a sign and then we went and showered and got ready to go over to the Talbots.  We went over there and had hamburgers and helped him move a fish tank and then we helped him with his power washer. The Talbots have a daughter that’s going into nursing school. So of course I talked about you. Then we went home after that. They have huge dogs though. They’re bigger than me!!

WEDNESDAY- Today we went and helped this person Beth paint a shop of hers and then she gave us some money to go get something to eat.  So we went to this place called Charlie’s and then we went and showered and got ready for the day. We went and read the scriptures to this guy Scott and then we went to the Busters a less active family and we burnt our shirts there. I stepped on an ant hill and so I was trying to get myself cleaned up. That was the day,

THURSDAY- YEAR MARK!!!!!!!!!!! We got up and both told each other happy hump day!  Then we went to zone conference and I saw some guys that I came out with.  It was mainly on how to talk to everyone, family history finding and how we can be better missionaries.
Then we went on an exchange with the zls and I went with Elder Ihaz. We went finding and met some people then we came back and ended the night with the rest of the guys.  We slept at their place.

FRIDAY- We got up this morning and went to a football field and we threw a football around and then we went back, showered and went out for the day.  We went and tried to see some people and then we ended the exchange at Cicis pizza and me and Elder Morley went home. When we got home, we went to see Marcus and then we went and saw Beth and her husband Randy.  He asked me if my mom was perty.  I said no, jk I said yes. Lol. Then they gave us money to have me go buy a fishing pole so me and Elder Morley could fish. Then we left and went to Rickys and bought me a pole. There’s a lot of missionaries who have poles.

SATURDAY- Today we went and saw Doc and helped her with her car and then we went to Scotts and read with him for a while.  That’s it for the day.

SUNDAY- I gave a talk on Sunday about missionary work.  It went well.  I had people thanking me. Then after church we went and had lunch and then we went and saw Doc and this person Beth a less active and then we came home and did weekly planning.  We went over to the Talbots and had dinner there for the rest of the night.
Later today we are going to go fish at a local pond with an investigator.  We only have 3 investigators.  People don’t want to change here. I’m stringing my own pole and I tie my own hook. Lol. I’m growing up in the world.

The library is small, but there are computers everywhere. I just heard the Jazz got rid of Gordon Hayward. Sad day.  When we eat at home we usually just eat snacks but I’ve ate mini corn dogs and hot pockets.

I’m doing great with Elder Morley, he is the best comp I could have.  He is the middle child of 5. He’s big into horses and he like sports. Not as much as me but he likes them.

Well Mom. I love ya. We’ve got to get going but always remember that.

July 3, 2017 Selma AL with Elder Morley

Hey mom!!!

This week has been really busy for sure. I’m doing great right now.  I have no worries!  I knew you would be a little worried but I’m smart.  I know where to go and what to look out for. I’ll be ok, Gods on my side.  I don’t feel that I’m ever in danger. Selma is very poor.  There’s a lot of black people here and a lot of people that just don’t want to change. You here gun shots here and there but don’t worry about that. It reminds me a lot of Wetumpka but much more poor. The apartment is smaller than the other one, one shower and 2 bathrooms.   We have a washer and dryer in our apartment for now but not for long.  We are going to be using the apartment ones here soon. I’m in the Montgomery south zone.  We are the only missionaries in Selma. There’s alot of history down here and there’s a lot of crazy drivers as well.  There’s a Walmart here, we just have to get there by car.

OH MY GOSH!! Elder Morley is the man! He’s been the best one yet!!  He’s from Payson and he basically likes a lot of the same things I like, country music and riding atvs and dirt bikes. We came out together but didn’t know each other because we were in different districts. He’s been in Selma for about 3 transfers.  He likes the area.

Holy cow THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!! YEAR MARK!!!!!! IM HALFWAY THERE!!!!!!!
Yeah Sister Sainsbury read that same story to us on transfers; I thought it was so cool.  Here’s the week.

MONDAY- After we emailed we went over to El casador with the Driggers and they said their final goodbyes and then we went and saw Reaph and taught him the Plan of Salvation.  When we told him I was leaving he said to make sure you come by one last time. So then we went home.

TUESDAY- Today was a sad day we basically went and said goodbye to people.  We first went and I got a haircut from Elder Lewis and then we went to see Eric Gender and then he took us to see the Foils.  We went and saw sister Shellman and she prayed for my safety and then we went and saw Eric and he was sad to see me leave and then we went home so I could pack some more.  We went to see Reaph again and he told me, “I will never forget you, you changed my life for the better.”  Then he told me about some good restaurants in Selma and then we went home for the night.

WEDNESDAY- Transfer day! So we got up and I finished getting my stuff together and then the Scottsboro Elders came and me and Elder Hastings went up to transfers and I saw Elder Butterfield and Ratigan and of course Matthews. Elder Mathew said hi and asked how the area was going.  After transfers me and Elder Morley went to Moe’s BBQ and then we started the 2 hour drive home.  While going there my bike almost fell off the car but we got it. We got to Selma and I started unpacking and we started talking.  He’s into rodeo a lot and sometimes was in the Ute Stampede.  He loves the wild child. Lol. Then we went and he introduced me to some people here.  The people here just don’t want to change so we usually do the same thing over a lot. We then had to rush over to the hospital and give a blessing to a guy from the ward who was having a stroke.  Afterwards we came home.

THURSDAY- Today was a great day.  We went and volunteered over at a food pantry and we got to take some food home with us as well.  Then we went home and had lunch and then we went and saw this guy Marcus, he’s been a convert for a year now.  Then we went and did weekly planning and then we went to see this guy Scott and read with him and then we went to see this family and the mom has two younger daughters who remind me of Ash because of how sassy they are. Lol. Then we went to see Doc for the rest of the night. She was a doctor so we just call her that and that’s what she is known for I guess.  I like that we have a car. Lol. It’s a Toyota Corolla. Elder Morley drives most of the time. We don’t use the bikes at all because they may get stolen.

FRIDAY- Today was a rainy day and it rained the whole day.  We went to Mongolia for our district meeting and there are some cool people in our district.  We made a year mark video after the district meeting. Then we went to eat at the Martins, they feed the missionaries when they have district meeting and then we went back to Selma.  Elder Morley is the district leader.  We went and saw this person Beth and she is so cool!! She works at an old train depo and she gave me a tour of the history of it. Then we went over to see Doc and she has 3 dogs named Bo, Myles, and Ton.  They are so funny.  Then we went home for dinner.  We went to see these people over in town that call themselves the Harmony club.  They were drunk but so funny, then we went home.

SATURDAY- Today was a great day.  We did service the whole day.  We went over to the harmony club and helped them put a new sign up which involved mixing cement and stuff like that.  I got sunburned, lol.   Then we went over to Docs and helped her remodel her home.  Past missionaries started it but we kept going and then we ate dinner with her and then we talked the rest of the night. When we were driving home we noticed that some roads were flooded from the rain and it was all the way up to the door.

SUNDAY- Today was a good day.  We went to church and there are only 20 people that go to church. I think I will have to talk more in church because of how small it is.  It’s called a Branch.  It’s from 9 to 1130.  I said the opening prayer in sacrament meeting and then we went and taught Primary.  There was only one boy in there named Jacob.  We taught him about fasting and prayer and then church ended.  We went home and changed into service clothes and helped someone with a leak in their roof and then some members fed us lunch, chicken and mashed potatoes.  We went home and changed again and then we went and saw some less actives.  We saw this less active family the Busters.  She’s an RN so I had stuff to tell her about you. She thought that was cool and then ordered pizza and then we went home for the night.

MONDAY- We got up this morning and came here and emailed.  Later we are having lunch with a guy named David and then idk what after that. There’s a lot of cool history here.  We even went over the Pettis bridge.

For the holiday we are having food at 12 at a members but nothing besides that.  We are having a bon fire over at a less actives home on the 5th to celebrate the year mark.

THATS CRAZY about Sister Peirce knowing Sister Haymond in Huntsville!!!!!!!!!! SO COOL!!
This next week we have zone conference on the 6th and an exchange right after that.  That’s where we go to another area and switch comps for the day and sleep over there.

We don’t get fed that much here, Doc feeds us a little.

Well mom we’ve got to go, love you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
