March 12, 2018 -- Letter from Kaden to the Ward

I was asked to speak in sacrament meeting and have Kaden write a letter to the ward that I can share to them.  This is his letter!

I always thought of going on a mission because I just had a feeling it was something I should do since I was a little boy. When I started to get older it started to get really scary. I mean leaving your family for 2 years is really hard. But Jesus Christ left his Father for a long time. I always looked up to my dad for advice and he also went on a mission so that pushed me more to go. When it was my time to go I was really scared for what the 2 next years of my life would do to me. The things I’ve learned out here are ones that I will cherish in my heart forever. The good, the bad, the in between. Some of the bad moments I’ve had on my mission have really humbled me to just go with it. I remember one of my comps saying this to me which helped me out along the way.  He told me think of Jesus he was hated and loved just like we are. I can’t remember where I got this from but Jesus once said "just remember that the world hated me before it hated you". I always keep that in my mind wherever I go. On my mission I’ve seen how much I can learn about life out here and it puts you in positions where you will grow and learn. I have seen Heavenly Father answer my prayers and as well put me in places where I can help people. The good times on my mission I will never forget. People see a light in us as members and we may not see it in ourselves but nonmembers see it and always wonder what is with the Mormons being so happy and have this like glow to them? I have seen myself grow from the experiences I’ve had out here.  I believe that Heavenly Father put me here to help the people grow and as well help me become the man I am supposed to become. I’ve learned that as you look at everyone in the world as your brothers and sisters, your attitude changes towards them. God is in this great work and he couldn't do this without his sons and daughters on this earth helping him along the way. Every one of us has our own challenges but I promise you that as you look to others and help them and forget yourself that the Lords blessings will come upon you over and over and over again. Because that’s happened to me.

I will close with bearing my witness of the truth of this Gospel. I solemnly testify that this is the TRUE church of Jesus Christ on the earth today.  He is leading his church with Prophets and Apostles. I know that he knows each and every one of you. The Apostle, Elder Anderson came to our mission and he told a story about a guy that felt blessed and he said "I knew that God knew that I knew that I was blessed". I feel that same way. I testify of the Book of Mormon. That it is the true word of God. Joseph Smith said in the introduction of the Book of Mormon that a man may get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than any other book. I know that to be true. I know that our Brother Jesus Christ died for us and rose from death to help us along the way and gave us hope. I testify that we have a true Prophet of this earth who leads and guides us through divine revelation. I testify of this in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ, the holy one of Israel, Amen.
