Hi Mom!!!!!!

I’m soo happy I get to stay in Wetumpka for my birthday and Christmas!!!!! My week was soo fun!!! I’ve got a lot of pics to show you!!! I had a deep fried turkey for the first time and we had soo many meal appointments on Thanksgiving we almost threw up lol. We had four appointments but one cancelled so we went to three.  Which we were thankful for because wow I think we all gained a lot of weight. They have sweet potatoes a lot. On Wednesday we had zone conference. Man I didn't even know that they took those pics. I know I don’t look too excited, I was just bored some of those times lol. On Saturday, we went over to James and Annettes and they let us watch the game and eat turkey. (I know we aren’t supposed to but they let us so we did.)  We try to get James and Annette to come to church but they never come.  We don’t have any plans on my birthday. We will prob do something on the Monday.  We had a zone activity today.  We just went to a lake and took pics and ate pizza. On Christmas all we know is that we can go over to a members house and talk to yall. We will get more details when we get closer. I liked to hear what you guys did on Thanksgiving and for the weekend! I will make sure I don’t open the package until my birthday. Tonight we are going over to Sister Underwoods for dinner.

We don’t really have any big plans this week. Temple trip will be next week. Elder Butterfield bought the little Christmas tree in the picture. I bought the backpack because it’s so much nicer.
I got another haircut last Wednesday. You would think I’m older when you see it. The 2 sisters are staying this transfer.

I heard that it’s snowing there. Its gonna rain tomorrow here. Very windy today. It felt weird not to be putting the lights and tree up with yall. It’s gonna be way different without being with the ones I love on my bday but I will be ok. Send me some pics of the Roberts Christmas party tonight.

LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!

November 21, 2016

Hi Mom!!!

This week was a little harder because we weren’t finding a lot of people. I mean it was fun but when we would go back to their house they wouldn't be there. We played basketball on Thursday with some of the young men ike Marcus. Most of them are priests. It’s a lot of fun.  I went and got my flu shot last Monday like you wanted me to. Elder Butterfield has never got the flu shot. He’s never had the flu also. We had Zone conference on Wednesday. It was from 930am to 5pm. It was soo long but worth it. We had lunch there, they fed us some ham and mac and cheese and salad. President Sainsbury was just going over some things that has come up when people email him. After the conference we went to the Montgomery mall and Elder Butterfield got an Auburn hat. I was gonna get one but if I bought one I would have to use my personal card. Then we went home.  Yesterday, we did give a blessing of comfort to a woman. She had a lot going on and she needed some comfort. She chose me to say it. It was cool.  Some members are going to bring us dinner at the church today at 5pm.

Since transfers are coming up, I have been more nervous because I may leave. I will let Sister Underwood know about what happens at transfers. I’m so Nervous. But I know that wherever I go I’m needed there. We have 4 dinner appointments for Thanksgiving. We’ve worked out the details of it. I will take pics of what we do.  It’s gonna be weird not to be with y'all on Thanksgiving. I love you soo much. On Saturday the Iron Bowl is gonna be on. It will be hard for us because we aren’t supposed to proselyte during the game. But we’ve had one investigator that has invited us over to their house for dinner that night.

The letter I sent took me two hours to write. I hoped yall like it. I almost forgot that yall were in Cancun. How was it? Was it fun? People wear under armor jackets and sweaters all the time in the winter here. It just gets soo cold. You can send me my beanie. The gloves are good. Tomorrow we have zone training and  we are also going to play pool with some investigators. I’m excited for that.
Everyone here is okay.  It’s sad because the native sister lost her dad before her misson and Elder Butterfield is adopted.  Elder B is trying to talk his mom into ordering pizza like you do for us. Basically they all tell me that I should be grateful for what my family does for me. A lot of them don’t get this much love. Lol!

LOVE YOU SOO MUCH MOM!!!!!!

Handwritten Letter to the Family

Hi yall!

How are yall doing?  I’m doing great out here.  Two weeks ago me and elder B gave a blessing to an elderly man who had stage 4 cancer.  We were home on a Sunday night and we got a call from the sisters.  They said “we’ve got a blessing request for yall.  Can you do it?”  We said yes.  So they came and gave us the car and we went to his house.  His daughter in law came out and told us he can’t have hands on his head because he’s too claustrophobic.  So I asked Elder B can we do it like a prayer?  He said yes so I gave him a blessing and then we went outside with the mom and daughter in law.  We talked to them and then this older guy came out and talked to me for a bit.  He wanted to know who we were and what we did or do.  I told him about the restoration and gave him some pamphlets and a Book of Mormon.  He then showed me his dog and motorcycle.  The motorcycle was a Harley and the dog was a Pitbull.  I wasn’t scared of the Pitbull, she was nice, and then we had to go.  That was on a Sunday night.  Even if it’s a Sunday the Lord’s work never stops.  Every Sunday we either have ward correlation where we meet with our mission leader to discuss the people we find or we have ward council where the presidents of the quorums and classes meet to discuss things going on in the ward.  On Sundays we have sacrament meeting and then class then priesthood and relief society.  Then after church we go to a sacrament meeting with the YSA’s.  We go back to our apartment and then head out for the day.  President Sainsbury told Elder B to go in at 8pm now.  He says that from 5-6 is the best time to be teaching.  I will now share some things out of my journal.

October 26.  Today was a great day.  I started keeping a dream journal today because Elder B told me if I wrote them down they would become more clear.  So I started one today.  We went out and started today with Steven.  Steven was baptized last March.  He’s 32 years old and not married.  He loves me and the other missionaries.  Afterwards we went to Frios and got free popsicles from Emily (she works there).  We went to the ward trunk or treat.  Me and Elder B were the judges of the cars. We had a fun time then we went and saw James and Annette and that was the day.

October 25.  Today was a good day.  We went to the church for district meeting then went to Wendy’s for lunch.  We came home so that this missionary, Elder Honn could give me a new haircut called the fade.  Everyone was telling me how great it looked.  I sort of didn’t like it but I got over it.  I love it now.  That night we went over to the bishop’s house to have dinner and then went home.  Our bishop is a retired BYU kicker names Jared McLaughlin.  He’s so cool.

November 12.  Today we went over to the food pantry to help them since this guy Kenny wasn’t there. We went over to James and Annette’s to try the chili that she made for the chili cook-off tonight.  Then us and the sisters were in a competition to see who could make the best cupcakes.  They won.  Then we went over to the chili cook off.  Annette didn’t win but everyone was telling us how great her chili was.  We came home and that was our day.

Everywhere we go there are churches.  Geez like most of the population of Bama is Baptist.  Elder B showed me a Baptist hymn that he heard when he attended one of them.  It’s called “sweet victory” by Trip Lee.  It’s so funny he told me they would go hard and would dance to the song.  Lol.  I want to attend a Baptist church just to see what it’s like.  I have had people yell at us that we are wasting our time or we don’t have time for you or we just get the door slammed in our face.  Usually I would feel bad but now I just laugh at them and say to myself “Geez what fools they are.“  The mission is flying by. I can’t believe that November is almost over.  Holy cow.  I can remember in one of the exchanges we had I was in Prattville and we were at a fair with the Prattville sisters Beck and Abhey.  While we were there, Sister Beck came over to me and said there are like no attractive people in Alabama.  I said because they have no teeth.  She was like that’s so true and high fived me. Lol.

The one thing I miss is the Sunday dinners.  I loved the picture of Sunday dinner at Kirk and Shirley’s. I convinced this guy James to stop drinking.  He says he feels more energetic and can do a lot more. Have Ash and Ty been complaining about going to church still?  If so, DON’T.  God loves you and he wants you to be clean every week.  Every time we do something wrong Heavenly Father weeps.  Pray often.  Heavenly Father wants to hear from his children.  He gets sad every day we don’t.  It’s just like if mom and dad went away for a while and you didn’t get any text or call from them.  How would you feel?  I would be worried and sad if I didn’t hear from them. Keep going, you’re doing good.  There are days where I think of you guys like going to Holiday or Iceberg.  By the way there isn’t any down here.  No Holiday and no Iceberg or Arctic Circle for shakes.

Well I’m gonna conclude with my testimony.  I know that God lives.  He loves us and wants what’s best for me and you.  I know that the church is true.  I cannot deny it.  I know that the Book of Mormon is true.  I’ve prayed about it.  If it’s not true, I don’t’ what is.  I know that I’m never alone.  My brother and Savior Jesus Christ is here with me always.  He is my light and my redeemer.  I testify to you in the sacred name of our Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ, Amen.

I love the song by Owl City, “You’re not alone.”

Love yall forever!

November 14, 2016

Hi Mom!!!!

I am doing great. This week was really fun. We had dinner every day from members and nonmembers. The election was crazy down here. During the night there was a lot of sirens everywhere. We were over at this guy’s house having dinner when it was all happening. People kept asking us if we voted but we didn't vote. On Saturday we had a chili cook off and one of our investigators participated in it. She didn't win but everyone including me loved the chili she made. I did not get the flu shot yet. It was an option. Every missionary didn’t have to get one,  So I didn't think I needed one. But if you want me to then I will try and get one. Not much else has happened with investigators. Just not answering the doors. It gets annoying.  We were in a competition with the sisters to see who could make the best cupcakes for the chili cook-off.  We lost so we have to get them a key lime pie. Lol.

There is a Christmas tree in the apartment.  Yes we used the Little Caesars gift card last week for 2 pizzas.  I have some pics for you.  That guy in the picture is Kirkland Deitsman. He’s the coolest guy ever. He came back from his mission to have surgery on his gall bladder. We’ve been playing bball today.  We don’t go too far on pday cuz we dont have a car. We also have zone conference on Wednesday.

Yes I got your letter yesterday. Since yall are leaving when do you want me to send a letter back? Brother Underwood looked at my bike tires 2 days ago and he found that there was a thorn inside the tube so it was just going around the tube creating some holes. That’s so exciting yall are going to Cancun tomorrow. I loved the pics of Dan looks like he’s doing well.  Dan has been emailing me back and forth.  He hit his 1 month yesterday.

You said you were going to get us pizza today.  There is a St Judes dominoes coupon. Its 20 dollars and  it comes with 2 medium pizzas, one topping with 16 bread bites and 8 piece cinnamon sticks and a 2 liter of coke. Do you think you could get that for us and the sisters? Thank you mom!!!
Yes I’m getting more comfortable talking to people and I have gained a better and stronger testimony. I know that this church is true and I can’t deny it. From the experiences I’ve had in my life I know I’m being watched over. I can testify that Heavenly Father loves you and he wants what’s best for us. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior, my Redeemer.  He is the light of this world, I can testify of it.  I know that Joseph smith was a prophet.  I know the Book of Mormon is true.  I have figured that out while being out here. I know Jesus Christ is our savior, the light of the world.

I pray about yall back home each day!!! LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!

November 7, 2016

Hi Mom!

The week was alot of fun.  Elder Butterfield and I start conversations with football statistics, lol. We went and helped the local food pantry and then we usually go to this place called Frios because a member works there and she loves us coming in and seeing her.

I’m doing great out here! We haven't had many spiritual experiences this week. We didn't get to give any blessings either.  We met this lady that would like us to come edge her lawn so we are waiting for a call back from her to do it. We have a chili cook-off this Saturday. We usually have district meeting on Tuesday mornings where we meet and learn from one another. My interview with President Sainsbury was really good. He just told me I’m doing really good and to keep that smile on my face. They made an adjustment to the mission last Thursday. Instead of meeting with the president every 3 months,  we will meet with him every month. We didn’t do anything on Halloween night.  On the 26th of November, Auburn and Alabama play. They told us that it may be safe to play that day low because it is so bad nobody wants to talk, just watch the game. There’s a street here named Utah lol. On Thanksgiving we are planning on going to Alex City for a member party.  Elder Butterfield knows the guy.  Elder Butterfields last area was in Selma.  Basically every night there was a shooting there. He has not had a baptism since he’s been out.  It’s tough out here.

I heard from Elder Lewis.  He is doing good.  He had a baptism last weekend.  The new sister is loving it here.

I got your box!! I loved it! Yall are awesome. One more month till I facetime yall! Can’t wait.  I have 20 months left!! Holy cow.  I LOVE THE FAMILY PIC!!! Everyone looks soo good in it. I will try and do more detailed letters. Sometimes it gets boring when I have to type all of my experiences. That’s why its soo much easier to talk. The sisters love the photo. They think Ash is sooooooo cute, lol. Elder Butterfield says that dad needs to have a Utes shirt on lol. He’s a Ute fan.

Heres some pics.  The one is a pic of me and James and Anette. We’ve been seeing them for a while. James calls me teddy bear. He drinks a lot. But I managed to talk to him about it, and he’s only drinking on the weekends now.  I’m still working with him but he’s doing good. We are seeing him tonight. We don’t have a dinner appointment till Friday.

LOVE YOU FOREVER. Miss you everyday.
