October 31, 2016

Hi Mom!!!

I’m doing great out here. There’s not really anything that was fun this week, except Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we went to a member’s house to help him move.  He had a lot of stuff. This guy named Tim reminded me of Raymond.  He talks and jokes and looks like him. We helped them move from 1 to 7pm. It was a lot but we had fun with it. They took us to a grill that night to get some food. It was soo good, the wings were so good. Then on Sunday, the girl Emily I’ve been talking about had her farewell talk. She is going to Seattle Washington and speaking Russian.  She’s so nervous but she’s ready. She is awesome. The last picture is of me and her.  One day this past week, another member had us over for country fried steak with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and cake. Other than that, people just need to open their freaking door.  We have a list of inactives and others we need to see but no one will ever answer their door.  It’s frustrating.  We have one dinner appointment this coming Saturday but that’s it for the week.  Also, we play bball on Thursday nights with the young guys in the ward.

Elder Butterfield is so cool. We get along soo well.  For his year celebration, we burned one of his ties and basically had the best day for him. The sisters decorated the door for him.  Sister Begay is getting along with her new companion very well also.

We are just going to email all day and are going shopping when the sisters get to the church to give us the car.  Our mission president told us that we didn’t have to go out tonight, to just stay in because of Halloween.  I will expect the package on Wednesday. I love THE PUMPKIN!!! Dang, I can’t believe Dan is leaving for Arizona already.  It seems like he just got to the MTC.

I miss you everyday!!!! Love you forever also. You also have a great week. Sorry I didn’t say that much.  Not much more to say.

Elder Webb

Handwritten letter to Tyler and family!!

Hi guys!!

I finally got to mail this letter to yall.

Tyler..Man,I think about you each day.  I am honored to have such an amazing little bro at home.   I know that you think that I don’t write that much, you know why?  It’s because I’m having fun.  When you feel sad it makes me feel sad.  I can write you more letters if you want though.  Just know that I think of how good your doing in school and in soccer.  I really miss having someone who likes to play clash royale and clash of clans.  Mom tells me how good you’re doing in soccer.  Remember, it’s ok to mess up.  Think of me, when I mess up I get right back up and do it again.  I miss Chloe, but I know that you guys are taking care of her.  Give Sadie some love lol! I meet little kids out here that look and remind me of you. Just know I’m always there for you buddy! Love big bro Kaden.  Keep going buddy!

Hi mom!

I’m doing very well out here.  I hear that you like it when I read out of my journal.  Here is one..

Oct 3, 2016.  Today was pday so we went and emailed at the church and took pics with the sisters.  We went and played bball with John Ellis and Marcus.  We went proselyting and went out to this place called Tallassee.  It’s very far out from Wetumpka.  We will probably go back there to see more people.  When we came back my mom sent us pizza for dinner.  Love her so much.

October 17, 2016. Today was the last day for Elder Lewis as he leaves to go to another area.  We basically went and said goodbye to people.  We spent like 5 hours in Frios.  We went and emailed our families and then went to the Underwoods for Elder Lewis’s last time seeing them for awhile and for dinner.  We went to see the sisters and talked with them for awhile.  We went to Walmart so Elder Lewis could get a watch and I also got my bike back.  Elder Lewis is very kind and loving and a funny missionary.  He will continue to bless lives in his new area, Vestavia Hills.  I love that guy and will miss him but tomorrow I get a new companion.  Goodnight!  Those are two posts for you.
Elder Butterfield is such a good companion.  I think I like him more than Lewis.  I love yall so much and I think about yall a lot.  I expect a letter soon.

Love yall, Elder Webb

Hi mom!!!

I’ve been better. I have just been a little stressed because it’s hard to show a new guy around the area. But he’s very cool. My new companion is Elder Butterfield.  He’s from Pleasant Grove UT. He hits his year mark this Friday. He also played Lacrosse and he loves sports. He is more relaxed than Elder Lewis. He has a usb that has some really good songs on it. He’s going to help me put some on mine.  The new sister is really cool. She’s from Arizona. She’s a lot better than the other one.  I got Tys Letter.  I will send one back to yall later in the week. The bike has been a joke but I think it’s doing better. The tube is deflating because it had a little leak in it. I tried to put fix a flat in it but the spout is so different. I’m gonna have to get a new tube uhhhh.

We had a really cool experience yesterday. We were both taking a nap and then the sisters called us and said their investigators daughter needed a blessing. So we got the car and went over there and I gave him a blessing.  Then I talked to this guy that was interested in knowing more while we were over there. WE ARE MEETING WITH HIM AGAIN!!

Today we played bball and played pool. Yes I gave some of the pizza to the sisters.  Another Elder cut my hair. It looks like a fade.  The sisters convinced me to do it. They hated the spikes lol.

Looks like it’s the usual stuff that happens at home. Tell Dad to send me a 2017 calendar.

We are going to the bishops for dinner so I have to go.  Heres some pics.

LOVE YOU SOO MUCH MOM!! SEE YALL NEXT P DAY.

October 17, 2016

Hi Mom!!!!

Sorry the email is so late, we were out all today because Elder Lewis is being transferred.  After 7 months in Wetumpka, it’s very emotional. I’m doing good.  My next companion is Elder Butterfield.  He’s from Utah. He’s also black. I don’t know anything else.  One of the sisters is leaving but the other one is training here. We need to leave at 9am tomorrow morning to go to Birmingham for the transfer. Elder Lewis is going to Vestavia Hills with Elder Burgoyne, my MTC companion.

This week has been a fun week. I was a witness at a baptism.  The sisters in Alex City asked us to be witnesses. It was so cool!  We also went on exchanges on Tuesday. Last week the internet was down so we just played cricket. I went to Prattville and went to a fair. We’ve been seeing people today and saying goodbye. It’s hard to see Elder Lewis go but I’ll be ok. It’s hard to explain my weeks.  We haven’t had any luck with the investigators.  We keep trying to see them but they aren’t home. We are allowed to have music as long as it’s uplifting. Will you send me a USB or flash drive with some music on it?  I’m out of money for the month, Lol.  I’m just gonna survive on the food I have and maybe try to lose some more weight.

I’m so glad to see these pics of Boston!  Heather told me that they were gonna start putting the seminary mission wall up when I left. Brother Underwood said that the bike shop says this guy Clint keeps calling them. He laughed. This girl, Emily Hammon, is basically so sweet and cool. Elder Lewis keeps telling me that after my mission I should date her. Lol.  Me and her have a lot of characteristics in common.

Here are some pics from the last few weeks.
Love you forever,
Elder Webb

Hi Dad!!!!

The internet was down today so I got on late. I don’t have much time though. Dan emailed me and I’m gonna email him back soon before he leaves for the MTC. I know Conover is very proud of all of us. I want to see the program from church from Dan’s farewell.  Can you send me one? Zone conference was good.  I shook hands with someone of the Seventy but don’t remember his name. It feels so much cooler here now. It’s hard to find people on the street.

I’ve missed Grandpa. I know he misses his helper. I had a very good week. We just found the coolest people. One guy looks so much like grandpa. Transfers are on Tuesday. We get the calls on Saturday night. I’m doing good with money. It’s a little hard to stay in budget but it’s ok. I usually eat chicken nuggets, eggs and chips and drink crystal lights. I’ve lost 25 lbs since I’ve been out here.

Love ya!  Heres a pic.

Handwritten letter from Kaden!

October 6, 2016

So the reason I wrote this is because I am usually busy on p-days. So I will tell ya’ll about my experiences through my mission so far. I’ve been writing in my journal every night.  I will share some entries that I put in there.

September 1, 2016:  We had a pretty good day in the morning.  We went to try to find some less actives but they weren’t home.  So we went and saw our investigator Frank but he blew us off.  Frank at one point wanted to be baptized but he realized that he had to be married or he had to leave his girlfriend’s home.  So he said “this is not right for me”.  After we tried to see Frank, we went with the sisters to teach this guy William.  He is their investigator but they wanted us to come with.  We taught him the Plan of Salvation.  He committed to pray and come to church.  After we saw him, we went to the church and played basketball with some of the young men of the ward.  When we were done playing basketball, we taught them and showed them the “Tyler Haws” Mormon message or what is called “A work in progress”.  Then we went home and planned for the next day and went to bed.

July 26, 2016:  Well I finally made it.  I’m in Alabama.  Holy cow, is this even real?  I’m filled with mixed emotions.  We flew in on Delta Airlines to Atlanta GA then to Alabama where we met President Sainsbury and his wife.  Then we went to the mission home and had dinner.  It was lasagna at 3:30.  Then President Sainsbury interviewed all of us there.  We all talked then we went and spent the night at a hotel!  It’s very nice but only for the night. So I’m gonna try my best and hopefully get through the mission.

That was the first day here.  I’ve enjoyed my mission so far.  Elder Lewis is very honest and is very kind and is doing his best to help me become the best I can be.  I’m gonna miss him when one of us leave.  We both think he will leave this transfer.  Here’s one more from August.

August 7, 2016:  Today was Sunday.  Just a typical Sunday with sacrament meeting.  Plus I got to bare my testimony that the church is true.  We met a few people.  It was a short one but 3 new investigators came out to church.

There have been some long days and short days.  The days go by slow sometimes and the weeks go by fast.  I can’t believe I’ve been out 3 months.  It feels like I just got here.  Go on my facebook profile and on messages there will be a person named Emily Hammon.  Send her a friend request.  She’s a convert and really likes me and Elder Lewis.  Elder Lewis hasn’t gotten one package from anyone.  He’s a little worried about the hurricane back home.  People have asked me why I wanted to serve a mission.  I tell them “I came here to do the Lords work and because my dad did it, so why can’t I?”  I’ve gave so many blessings of comfort.  Back at my two month mark, I got sick and Elder Lewis gave me consecrated oil and a blessing.  I felt better 5 minutes after.  Just today this lady Erica had a 3 year contention with her mother because she was angry with her that whole time.  But this morning she went and apologized to her.  Then we went and taught her about the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She thought that was cool.  There’s a place here called Frios.  It’s like a popsicle place.  It’s really good.  Every day I always think of what it will be like to go back home in 2018.  It’s been really fun out here so far.  The sisters are so nice.  They haven’t sent you a letter yet but just expect one sometime.  I’ve kept all the letters ya’ll have sent me.  Alabama is such a great place to serve a mission.  Ya’ll should send me letters.  I love seeing those just like you love to get this one.  I love Tyler and Ashlyn.  I love my parents so much.  Love ya’ll forever.  Elder Webb

P.S.  I’m going to send letters like this a lot more.  I think it’s fun.

October 3, 2016

Hi Mom!!!!
It’s been a normal week. We found 4 new investigators and we got 2 referrals. There isn’t anybody really close to baptism.  We get people that are so close but just turn away. There’s a less active whose husband looks like dad. We go to the food pantry sometimes.  We have weekly planning on Thursdays. Saturdays we are usually busy. We went to a flea market on Saturday morning and I got a flat brim hat. Conference was very cool. We watched it at the church with the sisters and this guy John Ellis and a few others. I liked the missionaries singing also. You should go on lds.org to missionary medley. Very cool. Today, we are just gonna email and play basketball. We are playing bball with some high school guys here. I’ll send you a pic of us.  They are out of school today. The one on the right is going on a mission next year.  One of them plays on the football team and the other is on the basketball team. Tell Dan to keep emailing me when he’s in the mtc. It will be so cool. I haven't heard from Austin or Landon yet. Have fun going to Boston! If you have to pass through bama, that would be pretty funny.

Your package helped out a lot with food.  I’ve had some mac and cheese and some crystal lights.  I love those. We went to the store today.  Brother Underwood says I don’t need to pay him back for the bike repair. He will figure something out. If there’s a way you can get me a 13 inch kickstand. He found a kickstand but it was too short. We have been looking for one for a while.
Wow, tell Ashlyn I ride a bike every day, all day. Thanks a lot for the pizza.  We will share it with the sisters.  Elder Lewis thinks that when I come home you won’t let me go for 3 days. Lol! Elder Lewis’ birthday is on Dec 1st. He will be a year out in December. I think that Elder Lewis will be transferred next transfer.  Zone conference is this Friday in Prattville. Elder Lewis says it’s been like 9 years since the last hurricane in Jamaica. He doesn’t seem too worried about this one.
Yep we’ve been eating at home this whole week. We didn’t eat out at anyones house. We went to a football game Friday night with Adam Keele and his son Chase. They invited us to go with them.  Elder Lewis has never seen a football game till now. We usually get up at 630. It’s like 50/50 we use the car and bike. Elder Lewis has been riding his bike for his entire mission. The sisters have been here for 3 months. The sisters email in the library in town.

Here’s some pics of the week.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK YOURSELF. MISS YOU EVERYDAY. LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!

Elder Webb

Hi dad!! I’ve missed you so much. I always think about you. You’re one of the reasons I’m out here. Thank you!!! I’m so happy that you’re doing everything you can to make mom happy and help her to "try" to not worry about me.
