February 26, 2018

Hey mom!!!!!!!!

So we have a recent convert who hasn't come to church in a long time and so on Wednesday night the branch had a thing called shepherd visits (go out and visit people) and so we went with our branch president and we got to see him and he had been in a lot of stress.  He was having a hard time. He also told us that he prayed that the branch president and the missionaries would come see him.  We gave him a lot of counsel and we also gave him a blessing. And as we are leaving I got the prompting to tell him about this video on lds.org called 'The Savior understands me'. As we left I looked back in and he was watching the video and he started to get teary eyed. I think that made his night.  A hard thing I’ve been struggling with is Satan has been really pushing me on the things of back home. The last 2 months I’ve been in this depression that comes out of nowhere. Like it’s hard out here. Don’t worry, it’s nothing. I get past it because God needs me......................... and I need him. Yeah we have some investigators. We have this couple William and Brittney.  They aren’t married but they do want to be baptized. Brittney is dealing with divorce stuff. They're the only solid ones. We have another one but most likely she will drop us.

So I reserved Ron on family search so I could do his work in the temple here. But he hasn't had the initiatory done, so I can’t do his endowment and so I was just thinking I could go and do it for him when I get home.

Here’s the week.

TUESDAY- so we went to the dinner appointment and talked with the branch president there and just had a good time then we went home because it was late.

WEDNESDAY- today was a good day we went to the church in the morning so that Elder Cluff could do some stuff. Then we went home for lunch and then we went to try and see some less actives and we finally got to see someone and she had a fake leg. She was bit by a snake and it was a poisonous one so they had to cut her leg off.  So we shared a scripture with her then we went home for dinner and then we went to the church for the shepherd visits I mentioned first.

THURSDAY- Today was a good day. It’s been raining a lot this past week and today its 85 degrees. There’s a saying here and it’s this, “ there’s no use taking a shower in the morning cause when you go outside you’ll already be sweating and that shower will be wasted” lol. Anyways we had district meeting today and I gave the closing prayer. Then we went to lunch with the Ensley Elders then we went home and got our oil changed which lasted 3 hours. So we were stuck there then we went home for dinner and then we tried to see some people before the night ended but nothing so we went to our English class and nobody was there.  It’s where we teach Mexicans how to speak English.  So we just did some family history for an hour then we went home.

FRIDAY- today was a cool day, NO STILL HOT! IT HIT THE 90S!! LOL. So we talked about home in the morning and then we went to this guy Evan Epperson and he was trying to fix his lawn mower and he needed some help so we helped him and then we went and did weekly planning since we didn't do it yesterday.  After that we had lunch and then we tried to see some people but none were home so we went and tried to see this person Jackie but nothing so we went to dinner at this guy Cory’s who fed us some ALLIGATOR TAIL!! I've finally had Alligator! I’m so happy, it was really good! It was a stir fry. He put the tail and broccoli and chicken and some sort of soup. I even eat broccoli now.  I eat lots of different foods now.  You’ll probably be like “is this my son?” lol.  No I didn’t eat it with ketchup. I still like ketchup but I don’t usually have it on everything now. I guess it’s starting to digress from me now. Lol. Then we went home after.

SATURDAY- Today was a good day, we did studies in the morning and we went to the mall and we tried to talk to some people but we had no luck so then we went home for lunch.  Then we went and tried to see some less actives but they weren't home so we went to an inactive named The Buzbees.  They weren't home so we tracted around there and we ran into a guy that respected what we do but he didn’t want to hear the message. So we talked for a while and I convinced him to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Then we left and we went to a members nearby and talked with them then we went home for dinner.  Then we went to our investigators William and Brittney and read some of the bom with them and then we went home for the night.

SUNDAY- Today was Branch conference and so it was really good.  They talked a lot about the book of Mormon and then we had our priesthood meeting and the guy that was teaching knew that I played Lacrosse and he’s like 'like look at this guy he’s the perfect offensive linemen for football and he went and played Lacrosse. I guess you've gotta be tough to get hit by a stick.' Lol. Then we had a small potluck Lasagna and then we waited with this guy Phil for his temple recommend so we could follow him to the bank and then we went home and then we went to try and see some people but nobody was home so we kept trying and nothing so then we went to the Bakers to have dinner with them and play some board games then we went home.

MONDAY- Today we got up and did our laundry and we gave a blessing here at the church to our ward mission leader. He was coming down with the flu. Then we are here. We will probably go over to a members and then tonight we are gonna try some tracting/less actives. We are hoping to go over to Alice’s. We are waiting for her to text us.

I heard from Elder Lewis, he’s doing pretty good.  He says it’s pretty weird to be home and he thinks about the mission every day.

Hey tell Tyler he’s gonna lose in basketball when I get home. He’s gonna be really surprised. Lol!

My bike is holding up well.  The back tire is a little low but everything is looking fine with it. I have it in our laundry room since we can’t have a washer or dryer.

We were getting rain every day and now we have sun shine. Lol.  Good luck with the snow!

I really just don’t care about transfers anymore. What I wish would happen is that I can stay in this area for the rest of my mission. But I doubt that’s gonna happen so idk anymore.

Oh and on the 17th of March Doc is getting baptized and she wants me to be a witness.

The last picture is of my district.  The 3rd picture was at an investigators house. It is just what Jasper looks like. Jasper is a lot like Wetumpka.

Well it was good talking to you mom!! We’re gonna head out.
Love you forever!!!!

February 20, 2018

Hey mom!

My week was great. I’m not going to do the weekly thing. I don’t have much time. But this week was awesome. We had some dinner appointments and nothing really exciting went on this week. We tract, we sometimes just talk about home inside, and then go see less actives, non-members and members. We stayed with Ensley yesterday.  We just got back from Birmingham.  We played ultimate frisbee and football and soccer and then cluff had his doctor appointment.  Then we went and had food with a non member and then went home showered then we are here. We have a dinner appointment tonight at 7 but that’s about it really.  We had district meeting last week and we helped the Christianson’s move and we helped another person move. On Valentine’s Day we went to Alice's and gave her flowers. She almost shed a tear.

Ashlyn’s friend who was killed in that accident sat across from me in art class in my senior year. We would talk about football and lacrosse and music.  He really was a great friend, he would remember me in a heartbeat. Truly a really great friend. Tell Ashlyn I’m so sorry.  I know he’s happy and with Heavenly Father now.

We have a dinner appointment at 7 and it takes us a bit to get there so I gotta go.
LOVE YOU FOREVER TOO.

***Sister Manning sent these pics throughout the week.

February 12, 2018

Hey MOM!!!!!!!!!

My week was good. It’s been pretty rainy here the last couple of days. We finally got the computers in the church to work so we are emailing here. Yay!!

Zone Conference was good. They talked a lot about the phones. What and what not to do. They will allow us to get on Facebook but only for missionary purposes. So I’ll be posting stuff on Facebook. Just to let you know. They also talked about medical stuff and talked about the missionary apartments and then the vehicle coordinator had everyone go outside and check their oil. I already knew how to do that. I saw dad do it a thousand times. And I had that class in high school about cars. Then while we were eating lunch, president came over to me and elder cluff and he wanted to talk to us. He told us how many good reports he’s got from the Jasper branch. Everyone loves us and they are really impressed of how well we look happy to be here. He also looked at me and said I know you’re probably still mad that I keep moving you around, but your my "minute man". If there’s someone who’s having a rough time I’ll send you there because I’ve gotten so many reports from your past areas and missionary's that you have this spirit that can light a room and you’re always happy and that’s what I need. Then he said nice job guys then he walked off. That was awesome to hear that from president. That was about it for the zone conference. OH and Elder Lewis is probably leaving soon! So he will finally get to go home. His mom is so mad. Lol.

MONDAY- So after we left the library we went to the Mannings and then we went and watched their son Luke at his baseball practice then we went to a dinner appointment at a members named Cory and we had chicken and mashed potatoes.  We read the scriptures with him then we gave him a blessing then we went to Walmart then we came home and watched the restoration.

TUESDAY- Today was a good day.  I’m 19 months out!!!!! Dang 5 more can’t believe I’m saying that. Lol. So we tried to go see this lady but she completely ignored us so we went and saw this Book of Mormon referral named Terry Lee.  He was a great guy he didn’t want to hear a message but I think that was the nicest referral I’ve ever contacted. Then we went to taco bell for lunch and then we went home and did comp study.  We went and tried to see this person Carolyn but she wasn’t home and then this guy up the street waived Elder Cluff down and it was a guy who was disabled trying to be friendly. Lol. Then we went to the car and we went to these investigators named William and Brittney and talked with them about the book of mormon and then they gave us pizza then we went home. We almost got stuck when we left because it was really muddy but I just got out of there as if it was like a 4 wheeler and we didn’t get stuck. Lol. Then we went home.

WEDNESDAY- Today was zone conference and it was a good one.  I already talked to you about that.  Then we went to dinner with this guy named David then we went to Book of Mormon class then we came home.

THURSDAY- Today was a good day. We talked this morning about what we did back home then we went and tried to see that same lady but she wasn’t home so we went and tracted, nothing.  Then we went home for lunch and then we watched this movie called Legacy then we went to the mall and store contacted then we got a call from a member that wanted us to go give someone a blessing in the hospital.  The son is a member. So we went there and he was in the ICU which id never been in before and he was hooked up to a bunch of machines and the family members in there were all Baptist so they were like we will leave and yall can pray with him. So we gave him consecrated oil and a blessing and then we left. We then went tracting and we knocked on a door and she was friends with a member (her boss) but she didn’t want to hear the lesson so then we went home for dinner and had our English class then we came home.

FRIDAY- So today we went to Alice's (sister manning) and helped her (as you saw) and then we went and took a load of trash to the dump then we went back and talked with her for an hour then we went home and then we went to our dinner appointment with Cory, Deer meat soup. Lol yummy.  Then we went and store contacted a bit then we came home cause I had a massive headache.

SATURDAY- Today was a good day, we went to the church this morning for Elder Cluff to order some more stuff for his diabetes then we went to the Christianson’s and they made scones and clam chowder which was really good then we went and saw this guy Tommy and then we came home and this guy David came and we spent the rest of the time with him. We went to Walmart and got some groceries then we made some taquitos and then he gave Elder Cluff a haircut and then we had a conference call.

SUNDAY- Today was a good day, we went to church and it was a good one.  The Christianson’s talked because they're leaving and then after church we had a potluck and we had a ton of food. Then we talked with a member and he insisted that we come play games with them so we went there for a couple of hours then we went to a dinner appointment with the members the Eppersons.  We played BS and some other games then we had a scripture then we went home.

MONDAY- So we are at the church emailing then a member here offered to get us some food so we are going to lunch with him at Jim n Nicks.  Then we are going to the manning’s.  We go visit and hangout every pday there.  Sister Manning might talk to you more than a lot of people in my areas.  She’s really friendly. Then probably gonna see some members/gators tonight.

Yes next Tuesday will be the p day. We will be in Birmingham for that day so the email will be shorter. Elder Cluff has a doc appointment up there and theres some guys he wants to see.

That is so cool about ash and Mckissick with drivers ed. Lol Yes I’m gonna come see her in the school. I bet Ash likes her a lot, she’s a cool teacher. You are taking Ashlyn on the freeway, nice!  Remember when you did that with me in the traverse. Yeah that was scary.

Wow all the men are physically down except me and Ray. And I’m in Bama. Well 5 more and I can help a lot more!

NICE!!!!!!! You’re going to St George, have fun there!!!!

I do most of the driving. He gave me the keys at the beginning of the transfer and he’s only drove once since. He drove last transfer a lot so he was tired of it. I told him whenever you want to drive just let me know. So I’m still driving.

Doc’s baptism is still scheduled for March 17th. It’ll be a miracle if she goes through with it but I hope she does.  I am planning on going to it as for now.

How’s dads leg healing? Is he in pain? Why would he still be limping?

Someone asked me where my favorite area has been.  I told them it’s tied between here, Inverness and Selma.

The picture is of a bridge we saw while coming back from a referral.

Yall are the best family out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love Elder Webb

February 5, 2018

Hey MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My week was awesome. I love Jasper.  The members are soo cool here. The super bowl was awesome!! The videos were from the Mannings.  They’re the coolest members.  The dad seems a lot like grandpa. It’s so funny.  They have us over every Monday.

Yeah we are getting along pretty well. I’m somewhat stressed with the diabetes but we are liking each other. If his sugar gets low he acts like he’s drunk and he just doesn’t care what he says but that’s only happened once. Elder Cluff has been in Jasper for 1 transfer. He knows a little about the area. He played football and his bro is way good at bball. So yeah he likes sports.

No I haven’t heard anything from Elder Lewis. I’m the first one he will tell though so I will prob know before Pres. Lol. Yep Elder Ratigan is home in Idaho now. Dang it’s crazy now that everyone’s going home.

WOW that’s cool about Ash having Heidi for drivers ed. Good luck to Emilie!!! and Riley!!!!
LOVE THE VIDEOS!!!!!!!

The computers here have a time limit and we get 3 extended times for 30 min. The senior couple in the area get referrals and they help with the ward. They’re like grandparents.

You asked why I was wearing shorts fishing and everyone else was wearing long pants?  I like shorts. I thought it was warm. Lol.

You thought my travel plans were coming? It’s a bit too early for that.  They only send them like 3 months prior. Lol. REALLY, you have our family vacation planned!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!!!  I can’t believe it’s almost time for me to go home. Like wow.

Zone conference is Wednesday, but there will be no more zone activities. The ve said those waste miles so yeah. We only get to be with other missionaries at zone conference or with your district.

We are going to get lunch after and then we are going to the Manning’s and we are gonna hangout with them then we are going to a dinner appointment tonight and then we are gonna try and see some people.

I’m not gonna do the Mon through Fri thing today. Ill share parts.

We had district meeting and I gave a white handbook lesson on Christ like attributes. And then we had a cool experience later that day. So we went tracting and we knocked on 8 doors and then we thought about going back but then I was like let’s knock on this last one then we will go. The last one let us in and we had a lesson with him and gave him a Book of Mormon.

We got fed almost this whole week. It was awesome. There are some really cool people here. I’ve been getting a lot of members that look at me and say I think I’ve seen you somewhere and I always get the thought that they saw me in the pre earth life. Because I’ve learned that it’s possible. It makes me a little teary that I made a good impact on people in the life before.

We taught this one guy Daniel and he started bashing us about Adam and the Fall. He says that God just made a solution to the problem Adam made and that he didn’t know that it would happen. We had a conversation for about 1 hour. Then we left and I thought it was good conversation. I have a better knowledge about the Bible now. Joseph in Egypt and Moses. I love those stories. My studies are awesome.  I’ve been reading a lot and I can’t believe I’m saying this but I love reading in my studies. I guess I’m growing up, lol!  Through the last couple of months I’ve been witnessing the love that God has for me. Because he sends me to the greatest places in bama. If you meet anyone that is contemplating about going on a mission, just tell them to PUT THEIR TRUST IN GOD!!!!! HE TRUSTS YOU SO YOU SHOULD TRUST HIM!!!!!!!

Anyways here’s some pics from this week, not too much.

THANKS MOM!!!!!!! LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!!!
