August 28, 2017

Hey mom!!!!!!!!!!

I’m doing great out here. Doc I guess met with a bishop from out of state so that held back our interview with the mission president. But she still wants to be baptized. The members were holding her back because of her past but the meeting on Sunday cleared that up. We are going to set up the appointment with pres. I need the 5 love languages book because Doc is teaching us about keeping the love after marriage. She gave me a copy but she wants me to get my own. Morley had one and Elder Dawson just bought one off amazon. On our way back from zone conference we went through Wetumpka so I decided to go see Kenny and the Robinson's. The Underwoods weren't home. But I loved the visits. We haven't got that much rain here. It’s been cloudy. The plans this week is to get the interview with doc finished and we have an exchange on Wednesday with Camden. They will come to Selma. We will go to Camden in 2 weeks.  District meeting on Friday. Here’s the week. I didn’t get a pic with doc, she wanted to wait till Sunday when she had a dress on but we had too many meeting so I missed it but she wants to look better in a pic so I will get one ok. I’ll take some pics of Docs home and show you what we are doing. Tell Ash if that guy hurts her, I’ll be back in Utah to put him 6 feet under. Lol jk. GOOD FOR HER!!!!! Look up dueling banjos. Ash is the guy dancing in that.

MONDAY- After we left the library we went over to Docs and talked to her and she said after that night everything just made sense. She fed us tacos and then we talked and she said one of her requirements is that Morley has to come to her baptism. Lol. That was the night.

TUESDAY- We got up and we went over to see Beth and she didn’t have anything to have us help with so we talked with her for a bit and then we went to see Sarah and then we tried to contact a referral but he wasn't home so we went back to the apartment and had lunch and comp study.  Then we went to see a person named Lizzie and gave her a bible and then we went home to have dinner and then we went to Docs and talked to her.

WEDNESDAY- Today we got up and we went to the book club and then we went to Taco bell and got some lunch and then we went back home and had comp study.  We went to see a referral and he wasn't home again so we went to see an investigator Belinda but she wasn't home so we were like people just be home!! So then we went to see Crazy Beth and wow she would not shut up, she would talk forever!!!!! We shared scriptures with her and then we went and had dinner.  I cooked Idahoan potatoes and they were good!!! Then we went and saw Doc and then we talked for a while and then we left and went home. I also got my haircut.

THURSDAY- Today we went to the food pantry for 2 hours and then we went home and had lunch and then we went to see this guy Bobby from the Harmony club and helped him with some stuff and then we went to see Doc and then went home for dinner and then we went to try to see some people but no luck so we went home after that.

FRIDAY- We went to Zone conference up in Birmingham because a member of the Seventy was gonna talk to us.  So we got there and then they had all the missionaries get in a u in the gym and we shook the mission presidents hand and then the seventy had Elder Christianson. His wife shook my hand and told me to tell my mom that I look great. It was out of the blue. Then we had the conference and he just had the missionaries ask questions. I said the opening prayer for the conference. Then we had lunch there and I saw Elder Ratigan and Elder Morley sat next to us at lunch. I got some pics and then we went to drop off the Millbrook elders and then we went to Wetumpka and I saw Kenny and Sue and he told me he’s missed me and Butterfield and he said he talks to you still. I guess Ash tried to friend him on Facebook but he doesn't want anyone under 18 as his friend for safety reasons. Kenny told me that if I come back with my family to visit the old areas he will pay for the motel. That’s how nice he is. He also gave us food to take home when we left to go to Selma. Then we went and saw the Robinsons and they told me about Marcus and that Mathew quit the job at unifirst. Then we left and went back to Selma and saw the Harmony club. Long fun day.

SATURDAY- This morning we got up and we went over to the Harmony club and we vacuumed and mopped the bar area and then we went over to Docs and helped her paint her stairway and then her master bedroom.  She fed us spaghetti and then we went over to the harmony club and had a fun time there and then we went home.

SUNDAY-  We got up and we went to a meeting at 8 and we talked about Doc and then we started sacrament meeting and then we went home after and had lunch.  Then we tried to go see some less actives but they weren’t home so we went to Docs and we had a lesson out of the 5 Love Languages book.  We were sitting there and a truck pulled up and it was this couple from Arizona and they were going to Florida and they saw us and stopped.  They were mormon and they saw us missionaries with Doc.  We told them that she wants to be baptized and they gave her a hug and then they left and then we resumed and then we went home and that was the day.

MONDAY- We got up and went to Walmart and now we are emailing and then after we are going to probably go look around town and have lunch and then do some laundry and then go visit people including Doc. The picture is of her dogs, Miles, Ton and Bow.

Next week we have a zone activity so p day might be Tuesday. The library is closed on labor day so we will see. The activity is Tuesday at 9am in Montgomery and we are either playing gatorball or volleyball. One of the 2. They said they are still putting in votes for the 2 and then we are all going to lunch apparently. That’s all I know.

I had more money with Elder Morley because he didn’t like taco bell. I’m also glad that all of my comps have been from Utah and I can visit them when I get home.  But one is just way far out. Jamaica. Lol!

The spiritual experience with Doc was the best one here in Selma. I wish I could tell you a lot more but we haven’t had that much here.

I got a card from relief society. It was just words of encouragement. I got the ties thank you so much! I got 2 bama ties. What about the purple one? I would love a purple tie. It looks great on anyone. Lol. It’s been a little cooler here.

I’ve been having a harder time waking up.  I can get up at 8 with no problem but 630 I just look so bad and I feel bad too.  I go to bed early enough but it’s just my body being tired of work I guess.

It’s a building called the Harmony club.  Here is the owner Dave, he’s crazy.  He knows the missionaries and we help him with stuff around the home. We are like celebrities, Lol.  Here’s a video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwgOtL5EggQ.

Thank you all for everything yall do for me.
LOVE YOU FOREVER TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 21, 2017

HEY MOM!!!!!!!!!!!

This week has been great, the last two weeks have been busy and fun at the same time. Doc has been investigating the church for years and yesterday we talked to her and I had inspiration to tell her the quote that Christ gave which is "I’m able to destroy the temple and build it up again." She sat there for a sec and said that’s true and so we shared some scriptures about that and she looked down and then looked up with tears in her face and said "So when can I get baptized!”  We were both shocked.  Just like that she found the truth. That was the experience last night. To get ready for baptism, we got to see what she did in her past.  President is coming on Wednesday to interview her. So we are praying alot. I’ll get a pic with doc on Tuesday.  She didn’t want to last night because she didn’t look good I guess. Lol. I bet it will be her and her dogs and her house. She’s in her 70s. Doc is the most solid investigator right now, but we have other ones, Ricky, Sarah, Jeffery.

The picture was from the Talbot mom.  She’s got a son on a mission in Idaho. He left in November. They are awesome!

I love the emails that Dad and Tyler did.  I’m just trying to be the man Heavenly Father put me here to be, an example to others.  Ash seems like she did good! Even though Herriman lost.

I’m the senior comp. I’ve been here longer.

MONDAY- Today was Elder Dawson's bday and so we went to see an investigator Sarah and then we went to this place Lannies original bbq.  Then we went home and ate and then we went to some stores and looked around and then tried to see some people and then we went to dinner at the newer Lannies and had dinner there and then we went to see Doc for the rest of the night.

TUESDAY- Today we went to the Old train museum and helped Beth move some stuff and talked with her and she showed us a part of the movie Deliverance Dueling Banjos and then we talked a little bit more and then we left and she gave us money to go to Charlies and had some great food. They have Pickle fries there and I LOVE THEM!!!!!!! Then we went back to see Beth and help her one more time and then we left and went to a flea market and looked around and then we went to Docs and she made burritos for us and now I like guacamole!!!! Then we went home after that.

WEDNESDAY- Today we got up and we went to Book club and introduced Elder Dawson to them and then we went to district meeting and we had lunch at the Martins and then we went to the church and had the meeting and then we went home and had Branch council and then we went to Hancock's bbq and then we went to Docs for the rest of the night. Then we went home.

THURSDAY- We got up this morning and we went to the temple and had a great experience and I got a lot of hugs from other missionaries and other people in the celestial room. Afterwards we took pics and then we went home and just did stuff the rest of the night. Went to Docs and had dinner.

FRIDAY- We got up and we went to Docs and helped her with some of her home and with her car and then we went home and showered and then we went to see Scott and some other people.  Then we went to Sister Allen’s and had the most awkward dinner with her.  She basically had us sit and then we ate and she went to the other room so it was just us at the table.  So we shared a message and then we went to see the Harmony club and then went home.

SATURDAY- we got up and we went over to the harmony club and we helped Dave with some stuff around his home and then we went to see Doc and helped her with her home and then we went home and showered and then went and saw some people and then went home.

SUNDAY- we went to church and then we went to the Talbots and had lunch and then we went to see some people and then we went to see Doc and that’s when she had her question.  The Lord talked through me and now she has the desire!!!!!!!!!

MONDAY- we got up and now we are here. Doc is feeding us tonight and so we are going over there. President has asked us not to look at the sun for the solar eclipse today.

While Elder Dawson is doing his deep cleaning, I just watch Mormon messages and listen to music, and sometimes we talk. Selma doesn’t have many restaurants.  They have a McDonalds, taco bell, zaxbys, wendys.

The mission is just an amazing experience and everyone who is thinking of going or not, I would say no turning back YES!!!!!!!!!!!! GO ON IT!!!!!! IT WILL HELP YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. YOULL MAKE FRIENDS WITH ALOT OF PEOPLE.

The people here like Dawson, it was a change for them but they are liking him. We haven’t really went fishing, Elder Dawson isn’t really a fishing kind of guy.  I’m getting a southern accent lol.  The mission is going by fast.

Thanks mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love you!!!!!!!!!!!

August 18, 2017 - New Companion, Elder Dawson

Hey mom!

Sorry about the late email.  We got back from the temple yesterday and the library was closed. We didn’t have time in the morning to. So yeah. We drove the 2 hour drive up to Gardendale and we hit some traffic as well. They didn’t feed us so we just went home and then we went to Wendys after.

I like Elder Dawson, he’s pretty cool. He’s from Gilbert Arizona. He’s been out as long as me. He is a real clean freak. He’s not mean to me he actually feels bad for me. Lol. But yeah. He’s doing a great job at deep cleaning the apartment.  The apartment is old so he is trying to fix it up. There was a little mold in the cupboards but yeah so he’s doing a lot of work to it. He really likes cars, he’s got a scholarship for deasil mechanic when he goes home. We swap driving. He’s not a very good driver.  He gets to be aggressive in his driving a little bit. Back home he was a little racist and so when he came to Selma he was like wow, here we go. Lol. We are getting along pretty well though. He’s more outspoken than shy.  I told him about you wanting to move to Arizona and he rolled his eyes and said no they don’t. Lol. It’s hot!!

I haven’t had any cool experiences this week. But I realized one of the people that came out this transfer went to my high school. Her name is Lauren Southwick.  I met her somehow in high school. She hasn’t recognized me because I have a different hair style, when I see her again I’m gonna talk to her.

I’m glad yall got to have fun at the beach. I won’t be doing the Mon through Friday thing because I don’t have that much time, but I saw a lot of people at transfers that I knew. I only have 2 pictures. Sorry. But I will get some more. Plus I’ll be emailing you on Monday! Today we are going to Docs and Elder Dawson and a member are going to try to help Docs car start working.

The temple was awesome. While I was in there I kept thinking of when I come home and I go through the temple with yall. I love the temple. I can so feel the spirit in there. HEAVENLY FATHER DOES BLESS TEMPLES.

If I could choose a restaurant to go to when I get home it would be Texas road house? My choice of a homemade meal would probably be the meat loaf that Sister Root sent to you. Lol.

Don’t worry about the racial stuff.  Yeah the people here like us so I’ll be ok.

That’s cool about Ashlyn cheering.  GO ASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Orrville is halfway to Magnolia and we saw the sign when we went down for d meeting and took a pic by it.

Oh yeah and tell Relief society, thanks for the cards!!!!!!

Thanks for everything mom!!!!!!!! You’re the best!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!!!!

August 7, 2017

Hey MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Transfer news, sad but Elder Morley is leaving and going to Columbus MS and I’m staying and getting Elder Dawson. I don’t know him, but the news shocked us real bad. We thought we were both staying but I guess things happen. I’m just nervous. It’s the transfer thing. But in other news Elder Lewis the Jamaican has been moved to AP, assistant to the President.  13 months down though!!!!!!!!!! We moved a lot of wood last night which made my legs hurt but I’m ok. That’s sad about Sadie. She fought hard but oh well that’s how life goes. I’m missing the beach but 11 more!!!!!! Here’s the week.

MONDAY- After we left the library we went and had Chinese with a member and doc. I loved it!!! We spent the rest of the night there and then we went to Docs to help her with her car.

TUESDAY- We went to the old train museum and helped Beth with moving some stuff and she wanted to talk with us and then she gave us money to go out to lunch.  We went home and had comp study and then we went and helped Beth bring a big table into the depo and then we left. Her boyfriend Randy is the funniest guy. We went to an antique store and then we went to Docs and talked with her and helped her move some stuff. Then we got a call from a lady saying she needed help moving some wood tomorrow. That was it.

WEDNESDAY- Today we got up and spent from 10 to 6pm helping this lady move ALOT of wood from the side of her house to her barn. It was a lot of work physically but we eventually got the job done and then we went to Docs for dinner.  We had Boston butt sloppy joes and then we went home after that. We were worn out big time.

THURSDAY- Today we got up and went to the food pantry and bagged stuff and then we went home and had lunch and then we went to see Marcus and talk with him about the temple.  We went home and Elder Mason came and got our washer and dryer.  Yep they came and got them. So after that we went and helped Beth with some things in the depo and then we went and had dinner and then we went to Docs and went to try to see 4 people but there was only one home, Crazy Beth. We talked with her and then we left and went home for the night.

FRIDAY- Today we went to district meeting and I gave the closing prayer and then we went to the Martins and had lunch there and then we came home and went and saw Doc for a while.  We went and had dinner and then we went and tried to see some people but no luck so we went to the Harmony club the rest of the night.

SATURDAY- Today was a good day then turned into a depressing one. We went and helped the Harmony club with moving some stuff then we had lunch there. Eggs, sausage and grapes and salad. Then we left after awhile and we came home changed and went to see this referral Belinda and invite her to come to church but she couldn’t come. So we left and we went to see Doc and then we ended the night there because she needed some help as well. We got the call and it surprised us. I was mad the rest of the night. I’ve had a great time here with Elder Morley and sad to see him go. I couldn’t sleep that night.

SUNDAY- We got up and we went to church. I rode with President to go get some people and then we had church and Morley got up and bore his testimony and let everyone know the news. They were really sad to hear about it. Ya know when you serve in a branch it feels like family and it’s really hard to leave. I sat in the crowd and imagined when I leave. It’s really sad but we ended church and went home and we went to the Talbots and had lunch. The mom got up in sacrament meeting and told everyone about her boy Bruse who’s on a mission in Idaho. She says within the months that he’s been gone he changed into a man of God and I don’t even know if he’s gonna look like my son when he gets home. Lol. But it made me happy because I thought as if you were up there saying that. I start to tear up when I hear a mom tell about her boy on a mission and how much she misses him. But it’s coming sooner than some of the missionaries out here. They have to wait till 2019. Lol.  Then we went and saw some people and said goodbye to people. Today was a good and sad day. I did my laundry and its 1.50 for one load at the laundry mat.

MONDAY- We got up and went to Camden for our district activity.  We went fishing at a members pond and I caught a bass and then we went and saw the world’s biggest alligator caught and then we rode on a ferry and then came home. And now we are here. We are having dinner at 630 and then going to Docs and painting a room in her home.

We have the temple trip not this week but next week on Thursday. So that will be my p day. They changed it for the temple on pday for some reason.

Yeah I got over culture shock in Wetumpka. Selma has fixed it as well. Yeah it’s a small chapel here in Selma but there’s a lot of family in that building, you can feel it.

The new shoes are working out.  Doc noticed my new church shoes on Sunday. She liked them.
Yes the car stays in the area.

I’m up and down with Dawson. He came out with us. He was next to me in weatherly but I don’t know that much. I heard he’s a bad driver. Lol. I rode with him to a conference before.
We will see about him. I hope people here like him. They are nervous for the next guy. I guess the people got used to Morley and they didn’t want him to leave. Lol.

Ok have fun at the beach, tell everyone I said hi!  Tell everyone at the beach that I’m liking the mission and that I’ve got that hick accent going, lol.  It’s changing me for the better and it’s worth it.

LOVE YOU SO MUCH MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
