Hi Mom!

Nothing exciting this week.  We just helped one of the members move Saturday morning.  Investigators..This one guy named Ladarious is on date for Sept 10th. This 15 year old named Hailey wants to come to church and she wants to be baptized but that’s basically it for the week.  There is also a guy that got his mission call in our ward. He is going to the Utah Salt Lake City East mission. He leaves on Sept 28th.  He’s excited.  We ride bikes more than in the car.  My bike is so fun to ride.  It’s a very good bike and I have had no problems with it.  I also lost 20lbs in the last 2 weeks. On Sundays we go to church in the morning and then proselyte until about 9.  Yes I got Dads letter.  In the letter he said you were in tears last week because I was late on the email. The sister missionaries here told me to tell you not to worry. They said they are my moms and are taking good care of me. Lol. Don’t be scared.  I’m in the Lords hands. He loves me and will protect me.

That’s pathetic that Herriman football lost that much to Bingham, wow. Wetumpka had a High school football game on Friday night. They won 35-0.  Today we are just going to go play more basketball.  Yes we will be able to Email on Monday, Labor Day.  We will be able to get into the church. I sent some pictures.  The one picture is a bunch of abandoned cars on the side of the road.  The last one is the guy that turned 20 last Monday.  It was his birthday party we went to. He only has three months left.

Ideas for a package are mac and cheese, starbursts, airheads (I miss those things) or laffy taffys.  Also pitch black mountain dew.  Thank you sooo much.

Tell Dan and his family I will be praying for them.  My advice for the young men in the ward is to make sure they know the restoration really well. Out here you have to say the whole thing in 1 or 2 min to an investigator. Make sure they have read the BOM all the way through.

I know I’ll be ok. Listen to the song Glorious by David Archuleta. I love that song soo much.  It reminds me of you guys and the reason I am out here.

LOVE YOU FOREVER

Background of what happened today prior to receiving Kaden's email.
He usually emails in the mornings but has always emailed at least before 1pm....until today!  I knew p-day was over at 6pm and as the day wore on, I got more and more anxious of why he wasn't emailing.  I was checking my phone at least every 5 minutes.  After hours of stress, tears, worry and anxiety for this mom, I FINALLY got an email last night. My favorite is his comment "Don't worry I was having fun!"  Well at least one of us had a good day--ugh!!!

Hi mom!!!

Sorry I didn’t email you earlier!! I was in Prattville celebrating this elder’s birthday. Don’t worry, I was having fun! I was going to try and email earlier but we left this morning and we couldn’t find a computer to use.

I don't have much time. My week is going fine! We almost got a person to be baptized, we just need to keep meeting with him. That’s the most exciting thing during the week. Some members took us to Carls Jr today!! It’s good that everyone is helping each other with grandpa’s yard, that’s what the lord wants. I’m so happy that you put my name in the temple. I’m trying to master everything down. I have to go but I will stay strong in spirit and I will always do what’s right. I pray every night about you guys and that you will know that your son and brother will be ok.

I LOVE YOU GUYS FOREVER!!!! I will send pics next week.

HEY!!!

I’m doing great. It rained really hard about 3 times last week and yes it’s still very hot. This past week we did meet some new investigators.  We also went and visited some members and some less actives. I’m still nervous about talking to people about the gospel but I’m getting better.  Just yesterday I gave another blessing to a member who has a disease. He went in for surgery last night.

We are teaching this guy named Deboyce. We met him on the street and we have had 2 lessons with him. We asked him if we keep coming back and teaching him will he be baptized. He said YES. So we are excited and meeting with him a lot. We see this guy Steven a lot too, he’s a recent convert. He wants to do baptisms for the dead. His brother passed away when he was little so he wants to be baptized for his brother Jacob. We are also meeting with this guy Frank. He’s been coming to church a lot. He’s the step father of Katelyn, the 14 year old who wants to get baptized but her mom won’t let her.  Her mom got mad at us because she thought we were just rushing Katelyn to be baptized. So we just went and talked to her and told her we were sorry and gave her doughnuts. It’s all good now.

Zone Conference was awesome on Tuesday. I saw a lot of guys from the MTC that I knew. It was in Montgomery. We usually go help out at the food pantry on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10-2. While we were there, this little boy asked me if I could tell him about lacrosse. He wants to play, it was cute.    Also, on Thursday we went and played bball with some of the young men.  It was fun.
I’m doing great.  I just keep trying to go everyday knowing I have a father who did this. Whenever I think of dad, I think “Keep trying your hardest”.

Elder Lewis has been in Wetumpka for 6 months. He is from Kingston, Jamaica. He is a convert.  He used to be a Jehovah Witness.

I think you should make dinner for the missionaries.  It’s very hard for them because sometimes nobody will feed them. I want you to have dinner with them and then take a pic and send it to me, ok?

I sent a few pictures.  One is a member’s pantry door that looks like cupboards and I thought it was cool.  The other picture is what the sisters did to our front door. And the last one is a picture of my new haircut that Elder Lewis gave me.  Lol!

Well I’ve got to go.

LOVE YOU FOREVER & MISS YOU TONS!!!!!!!

HI MOM!!!!!

My cold is gone and its getting way easier every day. We eat at members houses twice a week maybe three if we are lucky. We ate out last Tuesday at McDonalds then we ate out today for lunch. I’ve had some good bbq food here. Like pork sandwiches, ribs, and even a soup that had lettuce and onions and sausage. (ya i know )  I eat mostly chicken nuggets and leftovers from members.  I think I’ve lost 10 pounds.  Sadly we are riding our bikes more. Riding the bike is good but we can’t go to some places because it’s too far.  There are a lot of people to cover.  There are sister missionaries who use the car also. We don’t check in at all with our zone leaders each night. We see them once a month at zone conference. We call our zone leaders just to talk sometimes but not every day check ins. We get up and do personal and companion study, then we head out for the day.  We are finding new people, teaching people and visiting people we know that want to see us.  At night we usually go give the car to the sisters or we just ride our bikes home, then plan for the next day.

I’ve gave a blessing to 2 people for comfort and anointed 1 with oil. My scriptures are covered with highlights. There is a girl named Kaitlin and she is so close to baptism. She wants to be baptized but her mom won’t let her. She’s 14 and her mom has to sign a paper so she can be baptized. Her mom’s name is Amee. She’s baptist and we are trying to work with her on why her daughter needs this.  Yesterday in sacrament meeting, I got up and bore my testimony about the priesthood and about how it helped with Rylee’s  story.
When I’m done emailing, we are going to go play basketball then at 6 we are going proselyting.  At 8 or 8:30, we are going to the zone leader’s apartment to sleepover for zone conference tomorrow.  They live in a town called Prattville. It’s like 20 min from Wetumpka.  We email at the church and play bball at the church.  I’ve started to talk to the young men in the ward. They started school today.

Elder Lewis has been out for 8 months.  Tell dad that I’m trying to stay the best I can out here and trying to do my best.  If I get down on myself, I keep thinking either what would Jesus do or my dad made it for 2 years so I should be able to make it for 2 years. He had it a lot harder than I have it.

I sent you some pictures.  The pic with the egg is one of our investigators put an egg in their car on Saturday and 1 hour later it was fried. Lol.  For my 1 month anniversary, the sisters in our district cooked us dinner (goat ribs and mac and cheese) and made that picture for my 1 month. They are sooo kind.

By the way we don’t have iPad’s yet.

I MISS YOU EVERYDAY!!!!  I’m trying to make the best of it. I’m only out here once. I have the family picture on my dresser to remind me to keep going. Seeing your pictures of you guys camping, geez I miss camping. But I’m okay, I’m where I’m supposed to be.

I’m praying for you guys every night.  I love you forever and roll tide!
